The Laboratory for Acoustics
Performs standard tests In the fields of building acoustics, room acoustics,
and protection against noise:
- laboratory and field measurements of the sound insulation properties
of building elements and buildings in the case of airborne and impact
sound,
- reverberation time measurements in rooms, auditoria and sports-halls,
- measurements of sound absorption in the reverberation room and by
the impedance tube method,
- measurements in the reverberation room of the sound power levels
of machines and other noise sources,
- measurements and frequency analysis of the sound produced by machines
and other noise sources,
- statistical measurements of noise in the natural and built environment.
The Laboratory also carries out:
- studies of how to protect buildings from noise according to the currently
valid technical regulations and other special technical conditions,
- studies of the sound insulation properties of building elements and
structures in the case of airborne and impact sound,
- studies of the acoustic design of rooms to meet the requirements
of the currently valid technical regulations and other special technical
conditions,
- studies of the acoustic design or improvement of concert-halls, theatres,
sports-halls and cinemas,
- prediction of the emission and immission of noise due to road and
railway traffic, and studies of the protection of buildings and the
environment against such noise.
The Laboratory also performs non-standard tests, as well as developing
and introducing new test methods.
The Laboratory carries out research in the fields of building acoustics,
room acoustics, and the passive anti-noise protection of buildings. The
Laboratory has been authorized to perform measurements of noise in the
natural and built environment.
