The Section for Bridges and Other Civil Engineering Structures

Performs:

• laboratory tests of elements and sub-assemblages of bridge structures (maximumlength: 30 m, maximum load: 6000 kN) under static or dynamic, short-term or long-term loadings,
• laboratory tests of reinforced and unreinforced elastomeric bearings, sliding and pot bearings,
• laboratory tests of expansions joints under static and dynamic loads,
• loading tests of bridges and other civil engineering structures,
• periodical and main inspections of bridge structures,
• detailed inspections of bridge structures using complex field and laboratory, destructive and non-destructive tests.

Other activities include:

• development and implementation of methods for assessing the general condition, safety and service life of existing bridge structures,
• monitoring of important bridges and other civil engineering structures (large dams, the Krsko Nuclear Power Plant).
