ZAG Ljubljana participates at 87th Annual Meeting of TRB and at SHRP 2 symposium in Washington |

Washington 14. 1. – 19. 1. 2008 - ZAG's representatives for transport research took part at the
Transportation Research Board's 87th Annual meeting in Washington.
Fostered by the European Comission, their aim was to promote the
upcoming event of TRA 2008, due this April in Ljubljana, by offering a
sufficient of first-hand information to visitors.

ZAG Ljubljana, along with DDC Inženiring and The Slovenian Road Agency, is one of the local organizers of the TRA 2008 conference. The representatives of ZAG LjubLjana also promoted the activities and developments within the EU Directorate General for Research and Technological Development, especially its role as coordinator of research activities carried out at the level of the Member States. Apart from that they informed the visitors about the tasks and aims of the European Research Arena (ERA) and ERTRAC, European Road Transport Advisory Council. During the visit they were welcomed by the Slovenian Ambassador in the USA, Samuel Žbogar, in the chambers of the Slovenian Embassy in Washington to talk about potential cooperation between the two countries inthe field of transport research. A day after the meeting, TRB’s Strategic Highway Research Program 2 (SHRP 2) in cooperation the Forum of European National Highway Research Laboratories (FEHRL), sponsored an International Symposium on Non-Destructive Testing for Design Evaluation and Construction Inspection.The symposium was designed to gather international feedback on planning a program of research and development for non-destructive testing applied to highway renewal design and construction inspection. Over 150 international experts in the field of transport research participated at the two events. The initiative was a considerable step furher towards a fruitful cooperation between the European TRA and the American TRB. A similar workshop will be organized on 25th April in Ljubljana, a day after the TRA 2008. SHRP 2 in cooperation with FEHRL are joining forces to develop a workshop where participants will aim at preparing a program of research projects based on euro-american cooperation.
