ZAG Ljubljana to organize the 6th symposium on pavement surface characteristics |
Portorož, 20 - 22 October - The World Road Association – WRA - (PIARC) in cooperation with the
technical committees TC 4.2 and TC D2a, has assigned the organization
of the next Symposium on Pavement Surface Characteristics for Roads and
Airfields to the Slovenian PIARC National Committee. SURF 2008 is to be
held this October in the coastal city of Portorož.

The international symposium on pavement surface and airfields is a regular SURF event, organized every four years by the PIARC association within the framework of a technical committee. ZAG Ljubljana has taken overt the technical execution of the symposium's organization, which is to be carried out in cooperation with the members of the National Committee. After the symposium, members of three technical committees are to continue their work on the same location.
Each committee comprises two Slovenian experts:
TC D 2a – Road Surface Characteristics: Feri Bolhar, IGMAT, and Bojan Leben, ZAG Ljubljana
TC D 2b – Flexible and Semi-Rigid Pavements: Primož Jurjavčič, Primorje, and Aleksander Ljubič, IGMAT
TC D 2c – Concrete Pavements: Franci Kavčič, IGMAT, and Aljoša Šajna, Ph.D., ZAG Ljubljana
Representatives of pavement management firms, road and communication infrastructure providers, the automotive and tyre production industry, research providers, research centers and laboratories, as well as universities are expected to convene at the event and discuss their experience and standpoints with the representatives of various public bodies, such as national and regional governments, road administrations, and road authorities.
Apar from the regular tevhnical meetings , sessions and presentations, the local organizer - NC PIARC Slovenia kindly invites potential exhibitors to join the outdoor SURF 2008 exhibition. It will be held during the symposium providing an opportunity for government agencies, research institutions, consultants, contractors and equipment suppliers to present their projects, products, equipments, materials and services. The exhibition spaces will offer an excellent place for presentations and meetings.
The official languages of the symposium will be English and French, therefore simultaneous translation will be provided.
