Research and development achievements,
international cooperation
In the field of research and development, ZAG Ljubljana cooperates with
many similar institutes and university faculties, both in Slovenia and
in other countries.
Over the last ten years, the researchers of ZAG Ljubljana have successfully
completed more than 170 fundamental and applied research projects, the
results of which have been presented in 550 research reports. This research
has been financed by the Ministry of Science and Technology, including
its predecessor, the Research Community of Slovenia with its specialized
sections, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Ministry of
the Environment and Planning, and the Ministry of Defence, as well as
by Slovenia's building and civil engineering industry.
Within the framework of international scientific and technical cooperation
the researchers of ZAG Ljubljana have, over this period, been included
in nine joint Slovenian-American projects, in five Slovenian-German projects,
in nine European Community projects (COST, TEMPUS, PHARE, COPERNICUS),
in an UNDP project, and in joint projects with China, Italy, Ireland and
several other countries. They have published almost 900 papers, 300 of
them abroad. They have also given many lectures and seminars, and have
participated at workshops held at universities and institutes at home
and abroad. A complete list of publications, including research reports
and important expert studies, with abstracts and bibliographical data,
is published in ZAG Ljubljana's annual reports.
ZAG Ljubljana is a full member of RILEM (the International Union of Testing
and Research Laboratories for Materials and Structures), CERLABS (the
European Network of National Ceramic Laboratories), and OITAF (the International
Organization for Transportation by Rope), and an Associate Member of FEHRL
(the Forum of European National Highway Research Laboratories). Through
the membership of individual researchers, ZAG also participates in the
work of a number of other international organizations such as: CEB, CIB,
IABSE, ISES, ISSMFE, NACE, and NFPA. Its experts are members of numerous
Slovenian and international technical committees. They have, in the case
of many important building and civil engineering construction projects
in Slovenia, prepared technical criteria, as well as quality assessment
and certification programs. Recently, ZAG Ljubljana was asked to establish
a quality assurance system within the framework of the Slovenian national
motorway network construction program. |
