After a serious illness, our dear colleague, mag., Mojca Ravnikar Turk, passed away last Friday

Mojca graduated in 1988 from the then Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy of the University of Ljubljana, majoring in geotechnical engineering. In 2016, she also obtained her master’s degree at the same faculty. After graduation, she got a job at the Institute for Material and Construction Research.

After the reorganization, she headed the Department for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Observations at the Institute of Civil Engineering of Slovenia between 2003 and 2011, the Department for Geotechnics and Roads between 2011 and 2013, and the Laboratory for Asphalt and Bituminous Products from 2013 to 2022.

She was very active in the Chamber of Engineers of Slovenia, the Association for Asphalt and the Slovenian National Committee for Large Barriers. She was also the president of the Slovenian Geotechnical Society for several years. Between 2006 and 2009, she coordinated and successfully completed ZAG’s first multimillion-dollar research project from the Framework Programs of the European Commission SPENS, which developed sustainable materials and technologies for road constructions.
